So, first off, I totally didn’t realize I hadn’t written anything on here in a MONTH. Whoops. So, if anybody is still out there, let’s celebrate! Cora is 10 months old!
I thought I would have been more sad about hitting that double-digit mark, and while it is kind of bittersweet, I’m more excited than anything for what’s to come. We are on the cusp of a whole new stage, and I can’t wait to see it all!
Cora has cut four new teeth since last month for a total of 6! Her new four are the top center ones. They were cutting through pretty much all at the same time. The middle two are the furthest down, and the sides are still not so visible without an amateur dental exam, but they are there.
Crawling has gotten very fast. Whew! She’s still not pulling up to her feet, but she has done it once. Her legs are getting stronger, and she’s more willing to stand if you put her in that position.
She is clapping, Tia Mari taught her how to high-five (though she’s very gentle and has to think about it for a few seconds), and she’s attempting to blow kisses. All of that means I should probably get back into teaching her sign-language if I really want to do that.
She still buzzes her lips a lot, and now she also clicks her tongue. I think she thinks that what the kissing noise is.
She is feeding herself little finger foods, and she loves those little O’s. I’m trying to get her to pick up and eat other things like bananas or peas, but so far nothing is as exciting as those O’s.
She’s babbling a lot more intricately and fluidly, but still no firm words. She says “Mama” and “Papa” and sometimes “Papi,” and while we’re pretty sure she’s starting to get that those words mean something, she doesn’t always seems to connect it herself. I’m sure it won’t be long, though!
She has made big strides in getting over her clinginess in just the last few days. A few weeks ago, Tia Mari spent a week with us, then we went up to visit family in Orlando, so she was around different people for 10+ days in a row. The whole time she was soooo clingy, even while at our home. For the 4th of July, both of my sisters-in-law and my brother-in-law came down for a quick visit and suddenly she wanted to hang out with other people besides me! She was crawling and following them around the apartment, she would let someone else hold her while I was around, and she wanted to be with them. It was so awesome to see. It transfered to the nursery, too! Last night she had a BLAST in the nursery. I was so proud of her!
Her naps are starting to move a little later the last few days, but for most of the month here’s what it looked like. I kept things pretty tight because for 2 of the weeks we had swimming lessons at 3:00pm.
6:45/7:00 — Wake up, nurse.
8:00ish — Solids
8:45 — Morning Nap
11:00 — Nurse and Solids
1:30 — Afternoon Nap (I tried for closer to 1:00 during swimming lessons)
3:00 — Nurse (2:15 during swimming lessons, with lessons at 3:00).
5:30 — Solids
6:00ish — Bath time
7:30 — Nurse, Bedtime (closer to 7:00 during swimming lessons)
Likes and Dislikes
Likes: Crawling, playing “chase” with Papi, her bells, singing songs, the swimming pool, clapping, keys
Dislikes: She started to dislike the carseat (uh-oh), generally being restrained in anything for too long (stroller, high chair, etc.), being away from Mommy (although that’s coming to an end!), the sound a shampoo or soap bottle makes when there’s almost no soap left (seriously, multiple times it has made her cry!), the sound of the blender
