Here we are… 11 months!
Not a lot has changed in the last month, but Cora continues to refine her skills.
She’s still babbling up a storm, and has started using and recognizing words more an more. With relatively frequent accuracy she will say “Papi,” “Mama” or “Mommy,” “Baby,” and “Bye-bye.” She will echo “Hi” and she knows to clap her hands when you start singing “If You’re Happy and You Know It.” She will start turning her hands when you sing “Que Lindas Manitas” and then she’ll try to say “que lindas” but it comes out “qui-nda.”
She’s eating lots and lots of table food, and not a lot of purees anymore. She loves grilled cheese and I usually sneak in some pureed vegetables or finely ground meat in there. She also loves eating little broccoli florets. Like super loves. No one tell her that’s odd, please. She’s also a fan of black beans and rice.
We just started doing a sippy cup at lunch instead of nursing, and she’s still learning how to do that properly. We started now because (surprise!) I’m going back to work this month! I’m super excited. I’m going to be the media specialist and computer lab teacher at our church’s private school. All that to say, lunch time will need to be covered by a sippy cup. For now, I’m using frozen expressed milk that we had, but once that’s done we’ll transition to whole milk at lunch. That took a lot of deciding for me since it will be a little bit early. I read a lot of reputable sources on the topic of starting cow’s milk early, and for every source that says you absolutely should not there’s another that says there’s absolutely no reason why you can’t. But since she’s still getting the hang of the cup, we’re really only talking about a few gulps at this point, so I decided I was making a mountain out of a mole hill and we’ll just do it a little early for one feeding.
